Our largest and most ambitious release to date, "Wein, Weib und Gesang" is a focus on experimental and ambient-styled electronics, with tracks from a group of some of the most remarkable musicians around. Some of these faces are new to Kikapu, while some have previously released here a number of times. The title is an old German saying that is loosely translated as "wine, women and songs...all you need to be happy in life." Seeing as this release clocks in at nearly five... Our final release of 2006 is the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack for the award-winning Canadian documentary The Corporation, produced by Canadian composer Leonard J. Paul. This is the original music soundtrack plus extra pieces, totaling 28 tracks for the release. It also comes w/ artwork and full liner notes from Leonard himself. This is a huge release for us, and we're very proud to be able to offer it at Kikapu. We'd like to thank Leonard for letting us release this amazing piece of work,... ( 2 reviews ) Topic: sountrack
This highly abstract release from Kikapu newcomer, roto visage, is mostly minimal, yet in some instances dense, containing layer upon layer of bleak, disturbing and desolate soundscapes. His debut album, "der golem," can be closely aligned with dark ambient yet moves away from the genre with its organic, meditative explorations. The inherent isolation within the tracks is at times uncomfortable, a forced introspection, but quickly sinks into a dark solitude, as though anything beyond... One of our most intricately stunning releases to date, the debut EP from Canada's adcBicycle is nothing short of astonishing; a joining of what seems like hundreds of various samples - from vocals to instruments to field recordings - and intensely complex, live instrumentation and improvisation lead to one of the most incomparable and original albums ever recorded. The pure genius and musicianship of the artist reaches out of every tune to wave a big smiling hello to every single listener. What... ( 6 reviews ) Topics: idm, electronic, post-rock
Florida native and Nophi Recordings frontman r_garcia has so lovingly graced our presence with an album of new tunes, a full 40 minutes worth of new music exclusive to Kikapu that is. While not afraid to show his experimental side, r_garcia's music borders on a mix between melodic electronics and noise, with a surprising slice of soul and funk mixed in. One can also hear his love for indie rock shining through on these tracks, so feel free to rock out yourself to these twelve amazingly fun and... ( 3 reviews )
This compilation disc was originally released in the fall of 2003, and went out of print in early 2005. Since this release was a big giant 'thank you' to all of the wonderful artists we've met along the way of this site's inception and many variations, we thought now that the actual cd's have sold out we should make it available for free downloads. So thanks especially to all of you who bought the cd originally, and for those of you who are hearing it now for the first time, please enjoy. Topic: Electro, IDM, Experimental
Glomag is Chris Burke, a sound and web designer based in New York City. His first Kikapu release, "The Axis and The Alloy," is a series of fragmentations in which the original sample material is sometimes glimpsed only fleetingly, and sometimes left standing unscathed in the midst of new electronic constructions. Chris Burke's previous work with his band Glorified Magnified and his solo releases "Idioglossia" and "Oil War" were the breeding ground from which this...
Here lies William S. Braintree's debut Kikapu release, and the man definitely brings the goods in the form of some heavy bass and breaks, and the skitterish IDM sound we've always loved. And even pretty piano melodies, all wrapped around the most samples ever heard on a single album. Seriously. Topic: Electro, IDM, Experimental
file under: experimental, shuffling ambient, glitching soundscapes Believe it or not, this amazing new album from Mikronesia will be our last release. Ever. That's right, Kikapu is kaput. We're going out in style though, with this brilliant collection of experimental ambient pieces. Mikronesia first came to our attention from his albums for the always impressive Gears of Sand label, and it's quite an honor for us to be able to release some of his work here at Kikapu. And finally, for the last... ( 3 reviews ) Topics: ambient, experimental

Valentine for the wonderful release and remember that we heart you. Artwork by Alex Curran Topics: IDM, Breakbeats
The sixth official Kikapu release is from Memphis, Tennessee artist The System Boot, otherwise known as Allen Morrisson. Though he has been tinkering with electronic music for over a decade, this is only his second release under this moniker, and his first for Kikapu. This exclusive EP delves into more experimental territory than Allen's previous works, and encompasses the styles of IDM, ambient, industrial, glitch, post rock, and classic video game chip tunes. Hippocamp alumnus MonoCulture, who goes by the name of Nick Eymann in the non-digital world, is known around the net.label scene for his amazing production values interwoven with some of the tightest rhythm work and most superb melodies ever heard in the IDM genre. Our second collaborative project in as many releases, Miopedi is more of a split release that was planned and conceived in a collaborative fashion, rather than the usual joint EP. Hence the tracks being mixed up by the two artists. You might recognize Leenak (aka Kaneel) from a previous Kikapu single and releases on a multitude of labels such as Camomille. The duo Makunouchi Bento has been seen all over the internet as of late, with a plethora of releases on various net.labels. These two...
Vancouver seems to be turning out a great number of highly creative artists as of late, as our recent releases have shown, and Mike Verde is another example of the great new music that is coming out of British Columbia. Ohio native, steel mill worker, IDM producer: Chris Moore has done it all and then some. Self-imposed workaholic Carl Martin has been writing tracker-based music since his early teen years, and is most familiar to the world of electronic music as TBTMO stronghold Transient. He kicks it uptempo with a smile on his face on this Kikapu EP; all of these tracks are very fun atmospheric breakbeat monsters, and every now and then this release speeds up and gets crazy on you, then slows down and chills out. The debut release of off land is a marvelous collection of subdued, melancholic ambience and electronics. Things slowly start off with minimal drones, followed by shuffling beats and anomalous guitar loops, interspersed with vocal snippets. This is a remarkable achievement, and a stimulating listening experience. Topics: ambient, electronic, minimal

This rather elaborate EP from autistici rolls just over the half-hour mark, and could really be considered to be one massive piece of the avant-garde.
